REGION 2020: BEAUTIFICATION

WHAT

• To establish and implement a strategic regional beautification plan for the purpose of renovating, developing, and preserving private, public, and natural spaces.

• To increase the sense of ownership and pride in communities.
• To improve the appearance of communities.
• To improve environmental conditions.

• To increase business and tourism
• To protect natural areas

HOW

Strategy

Empower communities to promote the protection and planting of trees, with emphasis on native plants.

Action Steps

Region 2020 will convene a Beautification Implementation Team composed of nonpartisan representatives of the public and private sectors with an interest in protecting and planting trees.

The Beautification Implementation Team will establish a non-profit organization or partner with an existing organization to:

1. Develop a network throughout the region to locate areas that need tree-planting activities.

2. Seek funds for tree planting and maintenance.

3. Advocate for trees in city and county projects across the region.
