Jenkins-Utomi is Chief Executive Officer of HECA. Leadership
Michele Jenkins-Utomi is the Chief Executive Officer. Lois Chenier is the Grants Officer.
Governance
A common 15-member board oversees HECA and the Fund.
Board Chair is Ted Kennedy, who has long been involved in the regional affordable housing initiative. Mr. Kennedy is Founder of BE&K, Inc. and a member of the Board of Directors of The Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham.
The board’s executive committee also includes: Mr. John Oliver, President, Walker Area Community Foundation and also Chairman, First National Bank of Jasper; Mr. Doug Jackson, Chief Compliance Officer, AmSouth Bank; Ms. Gale Blackstock, Corporate CRA Officer, Regions Financial Corp.; Mr. Jerry Powell, General Counsel, Compass Bank; and Ms. Maria Campbell, Chairman, Financial Services, SC&D Strategic Solutions.
Other Board members include Mr. Charles Ball, Director of Planning, City of Gadsden; Mr. Jesse Cleveland, Director, Head Start: Clay, Randolph and Talladega Counties; Ms. Gayle Cunningham, Executive Director, Jefferson County Committee for Economic Opportunity; The Honorable Jerry Pow, Probate Judge, Bibb County; Ms. Mimi Tynes, former President of The Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham; Mr. James America, Vice President of Human Resources, U.S. Pipe & Foundry Company; and Wayne Hoar, Vice Chairman, HOAR Construction.
