Regional Roundtable of Elected Officials

The Regional Roundtable of Elected Officials fosters relationships and provides a forum for regional discussions among key leaders.

Region 2020 formed the group in fall 1997. Initially, the group met for half-day retreats to discuss the benefits of regional cooperation, and the role of government in the Region 2020 strategies.

This continues to be an important forum for elected officials to network and discuss regional issues.

Resolution Developed by Group

WHEREAS, Region 2020 has resulted in citizen-based goals and strategies for regional cooperation; and

WHEREAS, action plans have been drafted to begin implementation of Region 2020 goals; and

WHEREAS, elected officials at the local, county and state level are vital to implementing Region 2020 goals and to future cooperation in general;

NOW, THEREFORE, we hereby resolve to agree to support, in concept, the Region 2020 goals, strategies and action plans and further agree to continue to work with Region 2020 toward common goals and welcome all elected officials, businesses and citizens to do the same.

Statement of purpose

It is anticipated that the Regional Roundtable of Elected Officials, made up of representatives from each individual county Roundtable in the region, will act as a voluntary forum to discuss, plan and implement cooperative efforts in the areas of infrastructure, delivery of services, economic development and other initiatives.

It is anticipated that the Roundtable will be a cooperative effort between existing governments to improve communication and work to attain goals for the common good.
